1997년 상담통계 (‘97년 상하반기 통계)
‘97년 1년간 서울여성의전화 총 상담은 7,133건이며 유형별 상담통계는 아래와 같다. 면접상담은 총 941건이며, 여성평화를 위한 변호사 모임 소속 변호사 11명이 매주 월요일 실시한 법률면접상담은 238건이다.
전체 상담건수 중 구타 상담이 1,701건(23.85%), 부부갈등 1,230건(17.24%), 외도 1,208건(16.94%) 순으로 나타났다.
‘97년도 상담의 특징은 성폭행 상담이 1,167건으로, 96년 541건이었던 것에 비해 약 2.2배의 증가를 보였다. 이는 전화상담이 포화상태인 관계로 성폭력 피해자들의 이용이 어렵다가, 성폭력 상담전화를 따로 분리하여 운영하면서 상담건가 증가한 것이다.

각 상담유형의 항목별 내용을 보면 구타의 경우 남편의 구타가 97.24%, 외도의 경우 남편의 외도가 89.70%, 자신의 외도가 9.47%를 차지하고 있어 배우자에 의한 여성의 학대가 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있다. 부부갈등, 미혼여성, 성폭행 상담의 항목별 분류는 표2, 표3, 표4와 같다. 다음으로 시집갈등의 경우 갈등의 상대가 시부모인 경우가 73.45%로 가장 높고, 시누이 12.15%, 동서 8.76% 시형제 4.24%를 차지했다.
